H.O.P.E. Awards Ceremony
Healing Ourselves through Promises of Empowerment
Phoenix Park Hotel – Washington, DC
The H.O.P.E. Awards highlight the accomplishments of the programs, systems and leaders that have embraced trauma-informed care and implemented approaches that have transformed the service and system environments. They expand knowledge about the inter-relationship between trauma and mental health and substance abuse recovery and aim to educate the general public about how trauma effects the lives of many.
About the Pioneer of the Year Award
The Award is established to recognize outstanding innovation in developing and implementing activities at the grassroots or community level that advance the cultural shift to trauma-informed environments. Such activities impact multiple systems, provide opportunities for mentoring new leaders, and establish a foundation of fundamental principles that shape a new vision for trauma-informed environments.

"I have spent much of my career battling systems that seemed unaware or unresponsive to the special needs of women who have suffered as a result of trauma and abuse. It is such an honor and a special privilege to have my concerns and the concerns of so many other devoted advocates now recognized as "main stream" thinking. Trauma-informed care is no longer a radical idea, it has become the gold standard by which all systems of service delivery must be measured. What better evidence of genuine change!" |
